Just some real advice. The houses are expensive and there are ongoing expenses all year. Dresses, t-shirts, coffees out, sisterhood events, time with your big/little, gifts, etc... all in addition to dues - even at the more all inclusive houses. Many girls have jobs and many do pay some of their dues, and many are on payment plans so you will not stand out in that way. If you have a plan to pay that is reasonable, it is doable. If your plan is you working all year for the majority of costs (or all??) then maybe you might want to rethink rushing as a freshman. These houses are expensive and no sister likes to have to go after another sister or exclude her due to money issues. Do not go into rush if you are not sure how you are going to pay. Too many girls think it will work out and then end up not initiating or leaving after a year or two because of finances. It is horrible to take a bid from others and the time, $, attention, support of your sisters if you know you can not fully commit. It is horrible for the actives and the new member who leaves. I would strongly advise that you work on getting used to college AND working a job first. Do you have time for the sorority and keeping your grades AND A JOB? If you are unsure, wait to rush next year after you have a feel for the balance of it all.
