Cult members are required to either worship a deity, an authoritarian figure, or a certain philosophy. A cult tells its members that they have the exclusive truth to salvation, have an authoritarian figure that must be obeyed without question, and members are held captive by physical or emotional means. Cults cut you off from your family and friends. Greek organizations are social clubs. We exist so members can have a home away from home and friends and a social life. We do philanthropy and encourage each other to achieve whatever goals they may have at school. We don't worship anything or anybody and your own spiritual/religious beliefs are accepted and no one really cares. We have parent weekends and love to meet your mamma and be invited to your home or vacation place. And you can leave us whenever. Yes, we have secret rituals but they are just things we do that connect all our chapters nationally, not doctrines or anything remotely sinister and we don't practice any kind of worship. There is no doctrine or way of life that members must commit to other than being a good person and contributing to the activities and leadership of the sorority.
