before your reply freaks out too many PNMs I just want to add that there can never be "too many sophomores rushing." The concept of upperclass quota does not mean that houses can only take so many sophomores so more PNMs will get cut if "too many sophomores rush." quota will still be the number of PNMs for pref divided by the number of houses, regardless of if someone is a freshman or a senior. Now if only seniors rushed and houses only got 1 year of dues from members, that would be a huge issue, but a rise in sophomore PNMs is not going to cause that much of a financial strain. If Greek Chic is to be believed then the average GPA of PNMs for this year will be around 3.75, meaning the majority of PNMs will not decide to forgo recruitment because they have a 3.0, since the majority are above that. Mathematically, it makes sense to raise the suggested green zone GPA since, if it discourages PNMs below a 3.0 high school GPA from rushing as freshmen, it means the PC sizes may be more manageable, but clearly not so low as to negatively impact the chapters, since the majority are well above that. tldr; no such thing as too many sophomores rushing, giving a higher (more realistic) GPA range may help both chapters manage PC sizes and PNMs manage the transition to campus. Rush if you want, just have an open mind, and if you do have questions, ask your recruitment counselor, not some rando on the internet.
