I’m sure an Alabama alum would look good if You’re from around here or know alum, but many houses also look at how well the person knows you, for example, a rec from say a family freinds Mom who’s known you a long time, gets more credibility than one written by an alumni across the country who’s never met you, but someone connected you with. Still good to have a rec for each house, but family freinds/neighbors/people who actually really know you are better!
