involvement

You say that girls in Tri Delt, Kappa, and KD aren't involved. That's hilarious. There are ridiculously involved girls in EVERY house. Alabama recruitment is just that competitive - even the houses branded as uninvolved donate tons of money to philanthropy (their own and others), do volunteer work, and hold leadership positions around campus. The difference is the attitude they put towards this involvement (is it competitive? mandated? or just celebrated when it happens?) and the PNM pool they pull from. Phi Mu and AXO attract girls from different geographic areas outside of the deep south, yet there is so much diversity in these three houses, too. Not to tokenize, but KD is always labeled as exclusively in-state yet they have black sisters from New Jersey and Belgium, and they're not hidden away as "filler girls," they're exemplary sisters. Tri Delt makes an annual trip to St. Jude's, have exec positions in their outside orgs, are members of honors societies, capstone, and have jobs/internships off campus. Kappas read to local children as a part of their philanthropy, participate in charity runs, do service projects and mentorship programs, and win prestigious scholarship awards from the university. KDs also have capstone women, also have SGA leaders, also win huge scholarships, also raise tons of money for internal and external philanthropies. I could go on and on saying the same thing for each and every chapter, because EVERY chapter has outstanding women. To go through sorority recruitment at Alabama and find a home means you'll be a part of a community of leaders within your chapter and the greek community as a whole. Obviously there will be a few bad eggs in each chapter (400 sisters in each is a lot), but overall every chapter has amazing members, and deep down we all know that.
