I participated in rush this fall and by the first round I was dropped by all houses but one. I feel like this had something to do with my 2.5 GPA. My freshman and sophomore year GPA was terrible because my sister died in a car accident and my dad was diagnosed with ALS and only lived a year after we found out. It was really hard for me and my grades really took a hit. I am very smart but I just went through a lot. My junior and senior year GPA combined was a 3.79. Being dropped by all but one house really shocked me because before the no contact period a bunch of girls from one sorority would follow me on instagram all at once. They would reach out to me and tell me if I had any questions about recs or rush I can ask them. I also volunteer at 9 places and I was in a ton of clubs in high school and student government. I'm also super outgoing and i'm really pretty (i'm not trying to sound full of myself i promise haha) I was in Ms. Teen USA pageants :) But I guess what I want to know is... did they see my GPA and already cut me before rush even started? I got rec letters for every single sorority (2 or more for most) but some of my rec letters even explained why my GPA was so low. Did they not even bother reading the rec letters after they saw my extremely low GPA?
