If you did get a bid but dropped, that looks bad. They'll wonder why. Did you feel to high and mighty for the sorority who gave you a bid? Was greek life not for you? etc. no one wants someone who thinks they're better than everyone else, and no one wants someone who they don't know if they'll drop the day they get a bid, the next week, the next month, etc.
