When I rushed last year I definitely felt like the chances were stacked against me in some houses. I was OOS, I had a 3.5 unweighted GPA, a handful of very impressive extracurriculars, I had great conversations, however I didn't know anyone in any houses. That being said, after I left certain houses on IWTs I definitely knew I was going to be dropped... Which sucks. Especially when rush is made out to be this very humbling process where houses pledge girls that they know will better their houses. In reality, a lot of houses aren't looking for girls to "better" their house in terms of academics, involvement, leadership, etc. A lot of houses are just looking to pledge friends and pretty girls. I don't know how other houses score but I know my house is completely based on merit, so the higher the GPA, the more involved you are, etc. the higher we will score you. And if other houses score like mine, then certain houses are dropping A LOT of girls for no real reason. Don't get me wrong, I love my house but rush can be so fake and superficial and it's sad to see houses purposefully sabotage a PNMs' rush experience just because they don't fit their "image" or whatever.
