A "rec" can also be a "no rec." Say I am an alum and feel/know that you do not meet the character requirements of my sisterhood. You could have gotten DUIs, MIPs or got caught shoplifting. You are not going to put that on your resume, but the alum would feel the need to alert the chapter - especially if you are from OOS and not a lot of actives know you. It could be as big as that or as small as the alum thinks the PNM is rude.
