did you have 2 recs per house? did your conversations go well? was your resume empty besides academic stuff? i'm sorry to hear that you only got 4 invites after IWTs but academics are not the only thing houses look at and your experience is unusual for someone without a rep risk/some other issue so i wouldn't go around freaking out PNMs because of it.
