my mom was in a popular old row house that I knew (from word of mouth and spring parties) that i wouldnt fit in, so I dumped them after philanthropy. I ended up prefing 3 popular houses that I loved. dumping my legacy house early on was definitely the right decision for me because I knew I didnt want them and I didnt want that house to deter other houses from rushing me. however, I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing that if you're not 100% sure you dislike your legacy house. I do recommend keeping an open mind and not fixating on your legacy house, because the most important thing is finding your home, not your mom's. if you get the vibe that its not for you, drop them and maybe let other houses know. momma will understand, mine did.
