I'm from the North too and Alpha Phi is definitely not the "best" house. They do have some pretty good, strong chapters here and there but definitely not the best by far and they all have the same type of reputation. Regardless though, you should never pledge a house just because it's popular back home because no one cares. Your friends from high school aren't going to be impressed nor are your parents. Pledge the house YOU feel more happy in, whether it be Alpha Phi or not.
