If you attended EVERY party that you were invited to that week (you didn't skip out and go to your dorm for a nap or something unexcused because you weren't "feeling" a house) AND you still only have one house for pref, you will get that house. Even if you were their last name on that list. That is why all houses make heavy cuts before pref. They know the PNM's they invite back have a good chance of being on their lawn Saturday morning.
