it seems weird because it is. personally, I've never met anyone who had their mom or any professional stay the week of rush to help with hair and makeup... but there are a decent amount of former pageant girls that come through and some of these girls have very hands-on and overbearing mothers who want to stay and help "just in case." if you're a pnm, by no means is something like this of the norm. the majority of girls get ready completely by themselves, or with roommates/friends.
