^^^ perfect answer. GPA is the most easily quantified trait so even though the is obviously so much more to every PNM than their GPA so it is the easiest place to start making cuts. Also, for girls who are cut for having low GPAs (let's say below a 3.0) even if you are awesome, people with low GPAs are going to be less likely to stay at Alabama and I believe most houses will kick you out if you can't maintain a certain GPA (in my house if you have below a 2.8 for three semester so you can get kicked out) so it is riskier to extend membership to someone with a low GPA, even if they are otherwise amazing
