I had my legacy house at pref but put them second in the end and ended up somewhere else. No regrets. I am an OOS and my legacy was a lower old row. I went with one of the new row houses because I wanted to get a taste of the south but also felt more at home in a house where northern girls are clearly in the middle of everything. In hindsight, I think I would have been fine at my legacy house, but my mom was a member of a chapter that was not Alabama. I thank goodness she put no pressure on me. This needs to be YOUR recruitment and make decisions for yourself.
