First off, I'm going to be completely honest here and come out and say that I'm a Kappa. I don't understand all the hate the my sorority has been getting recently, especially considering tearing down other girls isn't anything the Greek community needs more of. But believe it or not, things aren't always as they are portrayed here on GR. For those who say we don't care about grades: Our minimum GPA for rush is a 3.3, the highest of all sororities here. The most recent pledge class this year had the 4th highest GPA with a 3.53. That's hardly having girls that are failing their classes. For those who say we aren't involved: We have girls helping winning some of the biggest awards at UA, leading SGA, being student athletes, doing research, doing tons of community service, acting as presidents/VPs of honor societies here, etc. Heck, our instagram documents a lot of the cool work that our girls are doing if you're curious and want to see more. Many people also like to say that we don't have a good sisterhood but that isn't true at all. These girls are the ones who have helped me through thick and thin, have stood by my side even when I've screwed up, and will always support me no matter what. I won't deny that there is somewhat of a divide between OOS/in state girls, which can be frustrating, but it certainly isn't true for all girls. Plus, I've still managed to make my best friends despite it. Additionally, never overlook the fact that EVERY. SINGLE. HOUSE has it's flaws.
