Top houses take PNMs with really high GPAs (over a 3.5 and average around a 3.7), very involved in high school (athletics, leadership, volunteering), and who have good reputations. Because most of the top houses take mostly southern girls, it is easier for them to verify reputation of a pnm. Middle houses take mostly the same criteria as top, maybe not quite as much focus on grades and involvement. Middle houses pull more OOS girls and those not even from the South. I hate to call them bottom houses, because there really aren't any bad houses, but the rest of the sororities take grade risks (below a 3.0), they aren't as concerned with how involved you were in high school, and because they tend to draw girls from the north, Midwest and west, they don't know as much about the reputations of their PNMs and there can be some real surprises.
