I know this is going to sound corny but I wish I didn't know about this site beforehand. I wish I didn't go into recruitment knowing the tiers, knowing the rumors, knowing the different perceptions. Of course we all say "go in with an open mind" but even if you have the clearest eyes, there's still that voice in the back of your heard that's reminding you "oh this house is in this tier, oh people say guys don't like this house, oh the have bad rankings on greek rank, etc." I think when you go into recruitment with preconceived notions about houses you've never even been inside of before, it really hurts your rush experience. Also, I wish I didn't compare myself to other girls constantly, whether it be clothes, makeup, number of houses asked back to, and which houses asked back to. I know rush is competitive but you should strive to be the best you can personally be, not the best out of a group of girls. I remember I didn't like a certain house because my roommate had her heart set on it... Like I literally didn't like a certain house, not because I didn't click or whatever, but because I didn't want to be in the same sorority as her lol. Finally, I wish I paid more attention to how the girls treated me. Yes, most of us rush because we want to expand our social prospects, but at the end of the day you will have a group of hundreds of girls to fall back on. Choose a sorority you feel comfortable and loved in not a sorority that has a hot instagram & is popular among the boys.
