From an alumnae and adviser perspective, every chapter at every school would like to have a majority of in-state girls. These girls are more likely to marry hometown boys, or at least boys from their own state, and get jobs and settle down in state. Now....who is going to serve as an advisor for the chapter at Alabama...or Auburn, UAB, Montevallo, USA, UWA, UNA, UAH, Jacksonville State, AUM, Huntington? Alumnae who are just down the road a little. Who is going to respond to an appeal for donations when the heating and air conditioning system has to be replaced? When the living and dining areas need to be redecorated? Alumnae who are close enough to visit. That's why chapters would like to pledge more Alabama girls. Not because they're better, or prettier, or more snooty...it's because they're going to be there in the future.
