Honestly, I'd say no to summer school. When I came here I literally didn't know anyone but trust me, don't let that scare you. It's an amazing experience coming here and meeting people from across the country, and rush really helps put yourself out there and make even more friends, so you really don't need to come here for summer classes unless you're trying to get ahead academically. My biggest tip is to add yourself into GroupMe's and be active in them. Also when you come down for Bama Bound (if you end up deciding to come here), meet up with people who are coming down the same time and go out to dinner or something. Also it's only February, most high school seniors haven't committed to a school yet, so in a few months you'll probably hear of a few more people in your area committing to Bama. Fraternities begin to give bids out in March or so for incoming freshman. And they'll also throw rush parties on the nights of some orientations throughout the summer. You'll also obviously have Fall rush which is somewhat more formal. If you can't make it to any rush parties over the summer, you'll still have fall rush to see the different houses. As of right now I suggest you get on the IFC page and reach out to fraternities that peak your interest. Email them saying you'll be a rushee this upcoming school year and they'll get you in touch to the recruitment chair to let you know about rush events.
