I don't think posts #2 and #3 were meant to disagree with the fact that Greek life here is more social. The point that they were trying to make was that even though people join these Greek organizations with more social intents doesn't make philanthropy any less important to the Greek organizations here. The houses would literally, like literally, lose their charters here if they didn't do some kind of philanthropic work, so I mean philanthropy is an important sense in the Greek system here. Maybe in your sorority you don't have a lot of philanthropic opportunities and/or maybe your sorority isn't as focused in making their women more well rounded citizens, which includes opening them to philanthropy. I know that my sorority puts a heavy emphasis on philanthropic work, regardless of why we joined. Take a step back. Get off this site. And go sign up for some volunteer work.
