The DG I room with is a pain...... Trust me, I have tried! My observation of her and her friends is that they do stick together but are kind of insecure. They self promote and if it's just me around, they like to let me know how "great they are", all the things they do, what they wear, to the point of being annoying. When they are in that mode, you can't get a word in, and their stories are really not that special. But, get them around a larger group, and they just cling together, fade to the background and don't engage with anyone else. They probably find it fun - they have their group. But, not my thing.
