I actually went through recruitment at another large SEC school, transferred here as a sophomore and reaffiliated with my sorority's chapter here. Not having enough information to make the right decision is a major issue at every school where Greek life is a big deal, and unfortunate there's no good way to get to really know every house in such a short period of time. The reason it works out for most PNMs is that either 1. They have friends in various chapters who know whether or not the PNM would be a good fit and/or 2. Sororities are actually a lot more similar than you might think, and most of the time you'll be able to find your people within the chapter just due to the chapter size here and at other large schools. My sorority's chapter at my old school has a completely different reputation than the chapter here, but I was able to find friends in both chapters and have a great time at both schools. Long post, but trusting the system tends to work for most PNMs because they can usually fit in with most large chapters, as opposed to PNMs actually ending up in whatever chapter they would have been the best fit for.
