I am hoping to rush next year. I am coming from the North and don't have many connections to individuals in Greek life. The almost 3k Rush Candidates this year along with my lack of connections is daunting. I've read on here to reach out to everyone you know and I plan to do that;however, I am positive I will have trouble securing Rec letters from most of the sororities. I'm also reading that some girls have two or three Rec's from the same house. Ugh! Advice given on various sites says to contact the chapter and have them help you, but I wonder if this is frowned upon. Yes. I really am asking this early because I want to work on securing Rec's so I am not scrambling at the last minute. I also read about some Open Houses in the Spring but those threads seemed a few years old. Do the houses still do this? I really would like to keep an open mind regarding all the houses. I am looking for the friendship aspect, but also for the philanthropy and leadership I am reading about on all the chapter websites. I am coming for a campus tour but I know connections won't be made then. Anyone willing to give me the real deal? Lol! I know it's super competitive so just looking to have the best experience.
