Houses are considered top, middle, or bottom for things that might not necessarily be anything you're interested in. Do they take a lot of legacies from instate for example. If you're from California, being a top house that's mostly all local girls would be stifling and make for few lasting friendships. That's why you can't get all involved in the ranking aspect. The girls doing the recruiting are looking at you to see if you fit their house. If you don't and choose it anyway because you think they're ranked higher than a house that fits you better, you're going to be miserable during your 4 years here. So be yourself. All the houses are good, even the ones that get dragged around on this stupid site. Choose girls that are like you and that you'd want to be around. Bottom line, you can't change yourself to impress someone else that you "got an old row house."
