OK, let me amend my statement. For certain things, all sororities fine their members. If you don't show up for chapter meetings and don't have a legitimate excuse, you'll be fined. If you don't show up for certain mandatory events and don't have a legitimate excuse, you'll be fined. If you don't show up for recruitment preparation workshops in the spring and don't have a legitimate excuse, you'll be fined. If you don't show up for recruitment work week in July-August and don't have a legitimate excuse, you'll be fined. If you don't show up to participate in recruitment and don't have a legitimate excuse, you'll be fined, BIG TIME. Swaps and social events are usually not required, so you will not be fined. Anything that's not required, you won't be fined. But if you only come to required stuff, why would you want to be a member?
