This happens SEVERAL times each year: a PNM will receive messages from Actives of "popular" houses, led on to believe that they're special, put them at the top of their list every day, only to find out that they've been cut come skit/pref. Oh, and wouldn't you know it, that active that she's been snapping all Summer showed all of her friends in other sororities, so now that poor PNM is cut from other sororities as well. Besides, even if one or two or even 5 actives say that you're a "shoe-in" for a house, nothing is for certain until the night of pref night. If you feel as if you must talk to them, be very careful, and talk in general terms. If you must, talk about your summer vacation or the weather or something terribly boring. Under NO circumstances say "I feel like XYZ is so great!" "I really love your philanthropy/values/house/etc." And turn them in after rush (collecting proof of course). Dirty rush in the Summer really damages PNMs, and needs to be stopped.
