Dear Curious, Please don't think that the sororities are not interested in you because you couldn't attend the teas! They know that senior year is full of things to attend, and they understand that not everyone can come to them. The hand-written thank-you note is JUST the right way to let them know you are still interested in them. And remember that statistic - more than 90% (I think it's actually 93%) of women who maximize all their choices - go to every party to which they're invited, and list every sorority on their final pref card - will get a bid. But it's wise to think of the alternative. First, if you don't get a bid, your Rho Chi will call you well before 10 a.m., when everything begins. You will not go to the stadium only to find no bid! Second, remember another statistic - the UA student body is only one-third Greek. That means non-Greeks FAR outnumber Greeks. The visual presence of the houses make it seem they're the majority, but they're not. Fourth, you will want to find other things to do - and there are LOTS! A week or two after classes start, there's a thing called "Get on Board Day." ALL UA organizations represent there. You can browse around, see what's interesting, talk to members, and sign up if you like. Or sign up later. And social life? I've never found a college student yet that couldn't put together a party wherever they are! Take heart, Curious! Even if you don't pledge, you're going to have a wonderful time at UA! Roll Tide!
