West Campus has always been the hub for parties and generally has the better ranked houses. One of the biggest reasons for this is that West Campus houses host ALL of the relevant slopeday and homecoming parties. This is a fact. If you want to be directly involved in the relevant social scene, you must join a West Campus frat. The only exceptions are Sig Chi and DX, but even still, they tend to team-up with West Campus frats for these events.
