Just 1 friend or a large friend group joined this house? Because 1 friend won’t really matter because the majority of the house has to vote in your favor. Also, fall rush in uppermids will be full of guys who rushed upper/top this spring but didn’t get bids there. Also, realize that friend-groups from freshmen year get broken up and spread across tiers (my friends ended up in upper, uppermid, mid, and lower). If you didn’t get a single uppermid bid this spring, it’s probably time for you to look at mid or lower tbh.
