<strong>Subject:</strong><br />Frat Tiers For Freshmen<br /><br /> Poster Message:
For freshmen who had much less exposure to frats this year than normal, here is a look at where the houses stand. The list is broken up into 4 tiers. Keep in mind that while there is a hierarchy within the tiers, all the houses in each tier essentially mix the same. Ranks within tiers change each semester but frats rarely move up or down tiers. Top: All of these houses mix primarily with C4. All very wealthy houses with a good proportion of private school kids. Very finance focused. These guys mostly date core 4 girls. 1. Sig Chi 2. DU 3. Sig Phi 4. AD 5. Sig Pi Upper Mid: These houses all mix primarily with TriDelt, Pi Phi, AZD, sometimes SDT and have occasional core 4 mixers. All these houses have some very cool guys thrown in with more average guys. Similar demographic makeup to the upper tier although slightly less wealthy and more diverse. A year ago, it looked like Chi Psi might break out of this tier but then getting on SoPro and a very bad fall rush brought them down. 1. Chi Phi 2. DX 3. Lambda 4. ZBT 5. Chi Psi Mid: These houses still throw very fun parties and have good relations with mid tier sororities. Honestly, while they are in the same tier, the brotherhoods of these houses are all very different. All have the same mixing experience but very different fraternity experiences. 1. PiKapp 2. TDX 3. Pike Lower Mid: This is the last tier of socially relevant frats. Mix occasionally with KD/AEPhi and much more often with bottom sororities. Some cool guys mixed in here but also quite a few socially awkward brothers. 1. Sammy 2. PSK 3. Phi Tau All the houses below here don’t really have the social capital to have mixers and struggle to get pledge classes each year. Something to keep in mind for rush is that you can never be certain of getting a bid. Even if you think you are vibing really well at a few houses in one tier, it is not a bad idea to spend time at houses in a lower tier.
