Yep you can join a new one. I have friends that were in the same boat as you and had no issues. Closest things to state school frats are Sig Chi and DU. Phi Psi was also one, but they merged with DKE and probably will be wack now. In the mid tier, Chi Phi, Chi Psi, and Lambda are state school-esque. In the lower-mid, Fiji and Pike are also fairly rowdy. To sum it up, here's the state school-esque frats in order of quality. 1. Sig Chi 2. DU 3. Phi Psi (most up in the air) 4. Chi Phi 5. Chi Psi 6.
