I deactivated from my sorority and have mixed feelings about being in Greek life. Not everyone will have a great experience it’s kind of like a 50/50 type of thing where you might have an awesome experience or you might hate it. In order to enjoy being in a sorority, you need to have a tight friend group within the sorority, which means people in the same friend groups who rush into the same sorority tend to have a better time as well as the people who develop tight friend groups within their sorority. A lot of people are left out of friend groups within sororities and it can feel very lonely. If you don’t find your people while the new member/pledging process is going on, I highly suggest dropping your sorority before you realize that it was a waste of time and you made no genuine friends. Also, if you are joining a sorority with clout that dirty rushes a lot and you weren’t dirty rushed, you probably aren’t going to have an enjoyable experience just because those sororities dirty rush friend groups so you are going to be on the outs of those friend groups. Sororities aren’t what they seem like on Instagram. They aren’t perfect so please do whatever is right for you and not what you think you should be doing.
