Most, if not all, sororities have very strict anti-hazing policies at the national level because they obv don’t want to get a chapter shut down. That said, bid day parties tend to encourage drinking (& more in some cases), and a lot of times new member retreats and other events will involve silly games or other activities intended to help you bond with your pledge class and get to know other girls in your house leading up to stuff like big/little reveal and initiation. You’ll also be expected to learn your chapter’s history, rituals etc… But unlike frats, formal hazing should absolutely NOT be something to worry about, and hazing violations are taken extremely seriously by the standards committee for each chapter and the house advisors. In every single sorority at UGA, you can feel confident that you’ll never be penalized for not drinking, put in cruel or demeaning situations, or otherwise forced to do anything illegal or unsafe as a condition of membership.
