Pnm's get to rank the sororities however they want during recruitment, but those ranks have no effect on how the sororities rank them. The sororities don't take the pnm's choices into consideration, they don't even see them. Pnm's will be released by chapters they have ranked high, and will return to chapters they have ranked low, and that's just the way it is because the sororities are choosing their new members, not the other way around. A pnm's ranks only come into play in the UNCOMMON scenario that more chapters want to invite her back than a round allows, only then will the lower ranked chapter(s) drop off her schedule. The best pnm's can do is to let the chapters they love know it and hope for the best, but more important is to keep an open mind and heart to the ones who invite them back. Plenty of girls land in houses where they are disappointed at first but end up VERY happy, and looking back on recruitment they go "what was I thinking". A final word for pnm's who think they can game the system: sometimes pnm's try to purposely get themselves dropped by sororities they swear they don't want, making a point of showing disinterest and even rudeness at these chapters. While this tactic will certainly have the desired effect, it does NOTHING to get them ranked high enough to make the invitation lists for other sororities. In fact, word gets around quickly; friends in other chapters will be alerted, and those sororities will drop them too. Nobody wants that kind of member. There is also the likelihood of being reported to panhellenic, in which case they will be removed from recruitment altogether. Rush is an emotional time for everyone. Don't let emotions take over and ruin your possibilities. You are not in high school now.
