Worrying about status is the real issue. Look a "bad" sorority at UGA would be a "top" or at worse "mid" sorority at a lot of places. Ex. Ga Tech. I think what you are saying here is exactly right. Once you get in a srat you find girls you like and hang out with and never worry about the rankings. DPhiE has given you all you wanted and that is the key. I am sure girls at AXiD, DG, and Pi Phi would say the same. Glad everything turned out great for you.
