This particular question has been answered multiple times on this page. It really depends on what you want and what you are able to afford. Women’s organizations are strictly for our campus. Sororities are on a national level. Women’s organizations do not have near the amount of money required for dues, merchandise, dress-up days, etc. From what I understand, though, they are not completely free either. But again, the cost won’t be nearly as expensive. They do a lot of similar things as regular Greek sororities like formals, day, parties, mixers, etc. But it wouldn’t or shouldn’t cost you anymore than being a typical girl going out. All organizations are going to have some sets of standards and rules, but sororities tend to be a lot pickier. Most sororities on our campus also expect you to live at least one full academic year in the chapter house. Personally, I had a blast but other girls are weird about it and it’s pretty difficult to have a valid excuse. Either way, one of the best things about our university, is that you do not have to be in Greek life in order to make friends or to have a good time. What I suggest most is, if you are curious, go through recruitment. But I will also say this, it is very competitive, it will humble you like no other, and it is long and hot. But at the end of the day, at least you’ll know.
