this is what happened to me. i had two houses on pref that i did not have favorable opinions of because of GR. and i felt like one of them really wasn’t for me. one of the houses i really wanted dropped me after sisterhood and i bawled my eyes out the next day. i didn’t understand what i did wrong, or what i could have done differently to get to pref night. i called my parents and they told me i should drop (they’re very uninterested in greek life in general). i ended up sticking it out because i genuinely liked the conversations i had with one of my remaining houses, and thought if worse comes to worse i’ll just drop and move on with my life. despite what other people say on this site, greek life is not the end all be all, and absolutely no one should make you feel bad for dropping. it’s a personal choice and it’s honestly not worth your time and money to be somewhere you are not happy. that being said, i am so so happy i didn’t drop. i met my best friends for life in my chapter. they make me a better person. i love every day i get to be with them and can’t imagine college without them. it took a while for us to become friends, but now we’re inseparable and i wouldn’t have it any other way. GR is so stupid because people will tell you nasty things about every house. i promise you that every sorority at tamu is worth being in!! i’ve come to find out that things said online are completely untrue (seems like a no-brainer now) and it shouldn’t matter what people think, as long as YOU are happy. this goes both ways. do whatever makes you feel comfortable. things will work themselves out.
