1. Your first choice house liked you enough to invite you to Pref. Chapters are not allowed to cut pnms after Pref so every single pnm who attends pref is on the Bid List somewhere. It's not as if you did anything wrong or you wouldn't have fit in there. There were just enough other pnms ahead of you on the Bid List. The girls in the chapter with whom you bonded this week are probably as sad as you are that you didn't get a bid. 2. You'll realize this when you're on the other side but MANY new members are disappointed with their bids. Some are better faking it than others but you are far from alone in not getting your #1 choice. And I'm not talking about top houses / bottom houses - there are girls who preffed two top houses and felt more of a connection to one over the other. There are girls who didn't get a bid to their legacy. There are girls who are jealous of roommates and friends who got their first choices. 98% of girls who are disappointed on Bid Day end up loving their sorority. It just takes a little time. In my pledge class, a girl cried on Bid Day- for hours, it was dramatic and ridiculous but she was just so upset she didn't get her first choice. She stuck with us and ended up being on Exec Board her Junior year. You would never know she cried on Bid Day if you hadn't been there- she is the BEST Big Sis, a top rusher, volunteers for everything. That could be you in your new house if you just give it a chance.
