My advice: 1. Ask your rec writers for the other chapters to emphasize your independence and desire to make your own path in college despite your having a sitting sister. 2. I would bring it up at every chapter, every day. Seriously. Don't wait to be asked. Say that you love your sister but you've always participated in different activities (i.e., she was a dancer and you played soccer) and you're looking for the sisterhood that's right for you. Don't overly dwell on it, just keep finding ways to tie it into your convos. THEN: You need to think long and hard about this one. If you ABSOLUTELY do not want to be in your sister's chapter (because you've spent enough time there and know 110% it's not a good fit for you, not just because of your sister) AND you'd rather risk the chance of not getting a bid than being in your sister's house.....try to drop her chapter after Open House. Then the other chapters will know you're serious. This happened to an active in my roommate' chapter- the younger and older sister literally can't stand each other and the younger dropped her legacy after round 1 and is super happy where she pledged from what I hear. For me, it would depend on my sister's age. If she's a senior, you'll barely be in chapter together for one year and in the fall you'll be so busy with pledge activities and in the spring, the seniors tend to "check out" a bit. Probably not a reason to drop the house unless you just hate it. If she's a sophomore, I get it...
