1. Yes, you need recs. Several chapters are required by their nationals to pledge pnms with recs - no rec, no chance. You don't need a Panhellenic to get recs. I got all mine lined up without using my hometown Panhellenic. The best quality recs are from women who actually know you vs some random Panhellenic lady. Start TODAY and ask every woman in your life if she was in a sorority. I bet you'll be surprised to learn that your favorite teacher or lifelong next door neighbor is Greek. Here are some suggestions: -teachers, coaches, principals, etc. -church ladies -neighbors -your friends' mothers, grandmothers, and older sisters -your mom/grandma's friends -women you know from volunteering or working part time -women whose families you've babysat If you get stuck and can't find recs to the last couple of houses, then and only then post this on Facebook and tag your mom/grandma so their friends see the post too: "I'm so excited to go through sorority recruitment at Texas A&M this fall. I am still in need of a recommendation letter to ABC and XYZ. Please let me know if you are able to help!" 2. No, that is not dirty rushing. Dirty rushing is when sorority women have contact with pnms after the "silence" period begins this summer, or when they promise you a bid to their house (i.e., "I can't wait for you to be my Lil Sis" or "you're definitely getting a bid because everyone adores you!") 3. Yes, move in early!!
