A large part of the dues goes to maintaining the house. If you notice, Baylor and TCU don't exactly have houses (even though plans are in place to build some kind of village). The Greek systems above people have mentioned that have the most expensive dues also have the largest and newest houses. I can't speak about fraternities, but sorority life at A&M is pretty cheap if you take into consideration the houses and social events. If you live in-house, that's cheaper than many private apartments in CStat as well. But OP is trying to hide that from her parents, so that obviously wouldn't work. I do have a feeling that this person is a troll though. Atrocious writing, and it's a dumb question that can be answered in 3 minutes with some googling help. Which... if this person found GR, I'm sure s/he could also find Panhellenic's website.
