Poster Name:not how it works

That is not at all how it works. First of all, it is against NPC rules for panhellenic to place a cap on the amount of pnm's allowed to rush. Talk about forcing "perfectly good girls" out... Second, the pnm's are not competing for a certain number of spots, the spots are unlimited in number. The more pnm's rushing and staying in the process, the more will get asked back each round and receive bids, and the larger the chapter memberships will get. But the sororities are doing the choosing, not the pnm's. They decide which pnm's are not a good fit for them and then release them from their recruitment. You don't pick a house and join, welcome to not being in high school any more. Second, it is no more 'competitive' with more and more pnm's than with fewer. The algorithm is percentage based, not hard numbers based, and the same percentages are in place no matter the number of girls rushing. You have the same chance among 500 pnm's as you do with 2000. Your position within the ranked lists would not change, you would still be above or below a chapter's percentage cutoff. Fewer pnm's just means fewer attending rush parties, fewer bids, and smaller nm classes. Chapter Quota is set based on the number of pnm's finishing the process and signing cards after pref. More pnm's, more bids, and every pnm who puts down both her pref houses is guaranteed a bid even if it puts a house over Quota. The system works and the sororities are growing and thriving. That's the math. Just because you didn't get your way doesn't make the math wrong. And finally, how absolutely vile of you to say that receiving an invitation to any of our chapters here is to be "forced down the algorithm". You are one nasty, entitled, bottom tier human.
