I totally understand about the heavy load. I took 16 hours as a freshman, including two harder science courses. I was worried that sorority rush in the middle of the fall would effect my grades. I won't lie.. Rush week was literal h e l l. I made a D on my Chem test that week and was sleep deprived and delirious. But bid day was one of the best days of my college career. I met my current roommates and best friends on bid day. We all lived in different dorms freshman year and I am pretty positive I wouldn't have met these wonderful ladies if it weren't for my sorority. Being in a sorority and having classwork forces you to learn time management skills. I was so unorganized in high school. But by the end of fall of my freshman year, I was incredibly organized and was never behind on assignments. One of my favorite parts of my sorority is our "study room." I literally can walk into the house after my 11 am class and there will be dozens of girls reading and doing assignments for class. It showed me I wasn't the only who was focused on my grades. There are hundreds of reasons to join a sorority. Try googling "why i joined a sorority" if you want more testimonies than what you'll receive on here. Best of luck and I really hope you decide to rush!
