Top houses basically know who they want already, mid houses have a list of girls they already know and want but there's room for unknown PNMs, and bottom houses have a bunch of empty spots open for their new PC. Each house does their list differently, so I wouldn't say that telling a PNM that there's time is an "illusion" because that might be the case for their house. How can we know for sure? That's why we have rush. PNMs, we don't have our bid lists done. No one does (ok, maybe DDD and XO...maybe). An active can love or not like you, and that can change the outcome. Saying that we have our bid lists done is stupid. The PNM may not like our house or a bunch of actives don't want the PNM, that happens. @^^^, she maybe a sophomore who hasn't been on the other side but you have no idea how her house works. Maybe she's a Theta who is telling the PNM that there's a place for her at the Theta house, or a XO who doesn't have a rush crush yet and is hoping to find a girl she likes before rush. YOU have no idea..
