One final post on SK-- SK can make a difference and probably become an amazing chapter if they focus on girls who not only have a great personality, but also as part of that personality are 'good risk takers'-- that is, girls who aren't afraid to try to start something new even if it might fail. Starting something new is daunting- whether it is a new sorority or a new business. It takes a lot of time and it doesn't always work out. If SK can land women who are fun to hang out with but who are also really willing to build something from scratch, then they could do great on campus, and their alums could go on, after they graduate from IU, to do more great things. Think Pat Miller from Kappa Delta who, against a lot of negative feedback from people who didn't think she would make it, launched Vera Bradley and grew it into a major national/international brand. Or think Mark Cuban who started a couple of businesses here at IU while in college that didn't really take off but he got the experience. I think there is hope that SK could put itself on a good trajectory and that will be obvious as a success (or not) after a year or two. Still, for SK's sake, I hope that they really do have solid relationships with the stakeholders that can deliver a house- their nationals' coffers, Dean Goldsmith (and whoever the new Dean is), Dan Smith in IU Foundation, etc...
