Honestly, there is definitely a difference between ASA, AST, DPhiE, Phi Sig Sig, Tri Sigma, AEPhi, TPA, SDT and the rest of the NPC groups. Those 8 are significantly smaller/weaker than the rest. Who's the strongest among those 8? Hard to say, but it's kinda just semantics. Those groups just have less chapters AND/OR are at small niche schools as opposed to the big schools. They just have less money for colonies. Tri Sigma struggles at big schools, they pulled out of Kansas State because there wasn't enough interest. They struggle at Mizzou and UNC. Phi Sigma Sigma just re-organized their chapter at Illinois and recolonized at Penn State. Whether they would want to take on another huge colonization like IU, who knows? If they do, I wouldn't expect them to have a house for a long while. I can't speak to AST but they aren't big on colonies. Check greekchat and see how many places they've even decided to present since 2008. Not very many.
