Don’t treat it like a job interview, just as kind of speed dating. Try getting to know the girls as much as they’re trying to get to know you. Don’t be late during recruitment EVER. Don’t give one word answers, try to continue the conversation. Make sure you meet the GPA requirement, do good on your finals. Be open minded, you might like a house you didn’t expect to / end up not liking a house you thought you would like. Don’t let your friends’ choices and ranks influence yours. Wear sweats over your dresses/skirts so you don’t freeze when waiting outside. Blacklisting is real. First round cuts usually happen because of low GPAs, blacklisting, or if you did something really absurd. Second cuts are due to not standing out/not being memorable/not talking enough/not being interesting, or again saying something really absurd or weird. Don’t talk about other houses when at a house. You can tell them that you like them/feel good there/loved everyone you talked to, giving them hints that you can see yourself in their house can sometimes help your case. Some houses have cold dorms, which are rooms full of bunk beds (like 20) where everyone sleeps together and it’s always quiet and cold. Other houses are like dorms with 2-4 girls sharing a room. Figure out if you’d be okay with cold dorms or if that’s a deal breaker for you. Lastly, be honest with yourself.
