FIJI held out a loooong time. A very long time to get exactly what they wanted. Plus FIJI is an exemplar of Greek life on this campus, and as a whole it’s members are very strong donors to the university and IU foundation That being said... There are many variables involved with SK’s current housing situation. The FACTS are : 1) they will be renting Kappa Sigma’s house on the extension beginning Fall 2019. Women who have already signed leases to live out are able to fulfill those obligations leaving more room for live ins in the new locale. 2) a lease is being signed for several years, long enough to allow for several pledge classes to matriculate. Long enough to build a permanent home 3) when SK was recolonized, there was the promise from EO for a new house. SK has been on this campus for 100 years and their alumnae and national officers and I suspect IU Panhellenic are all committed to seeing this chapter thrive. There is land available but if anyone of you have negotiated a land contract with a big ten university, you will understand it moves at a glacial pace. Case in point, FIJI. It is unfortunate and in bad taste to continue to debase this sorority, and to spread unfounded rumors. I frankly don’t understand the depth of the animus.
